Infrastructure WA is pleased to announce the appointment of Owen Thomas as its Deputy Chief Executive Officer.

Mr Thomas brings extensive experience in both land use and transport planning, and a wide range of activities related to strategic planning for major infrastructure projects.

Since 2015, Mr Thomas has been the Executive Director, Infrastructure Planning and Land Services at the Public Transport Authority, where he has been responsible for leading staff on a range of critical business activities to inform significant state and federal investment decisions.

Infrastructure WA has welcomed the announcement of the appointment of its Chairperson, Nicole Lockwood, to the Board of NBN Co as a non-executive director for a 3-year term.

Ms Lockwood will be involved in overseeing the strategic direction of Australia’s wholesale broadband access network, helping to guide the rollout and ensure Australian’s have access to fast broadband services.

January has been very productive for Infrastructure WA (IWA), highlighted by the finalisation of the State Infrastructure Strategy and the commencement of our legislated function to assess major infrastructure proposals.

 

IWA’s last day at Dumas House, 2 Havelock Street, West Perth will be on Friday 18 February 2022. As of Monday 21 February we will be located at Level 41, 108 St Georges Terrace, Perth.

IWA is required to review and report to the Premier on state government infrastructure proposals as per its requirements under the Infrastructure Western Australia Act 2019 (IWA Act).

2021 has been a productive and rewarding year for IWA.

 

The year started with the team busily assessing, evaluating and testing feedback from our Discussion Paper consultation, which helped shape the State Infrastructure Strategy and its recommendations.\

 

We are pleased to announce Nicole Lockwood as our new Infrastructure WA Board chairperson.

Inaugural Board member Terry Agnew has been appointed deputy chairperson and Rebecca Tomkinson, current chief executive officer of the Royal Flying Doctor Service in Western Australia, has been appointed as a new Board member.

Terms of appointment run until 23 July 2024.

Hundreds of people have stepped forward to have their say on the draft State Infrastructure Strategy, Foundations for a Stronger Tomorrow, released by Infrastructure WA in July.

Over eight weeks, in excess of 700 people attended 30 events held around the State, including workshops, information sessions and engagement activities. General sentiment during the workshops was both constructive and positive.
