Infrastructure WA

Infrastructure WA (IWA) welcomed Infrastructure Australia (IA) to WA this week as part of their ongoing role of maintaining relationships with infrastructure bodies in other states and territories.

While with us, the IA team provided an update to our Board on some of their key recent and upcoming activities, joined the Board in a workshop on respect, culture and values led by Dr Richard Walley OAM and his son Alton, and visited several strategic infrastructure sites.

Strategy vision and objectives

Strategy vision - strategic opportunity areas

IWA examined global megatrends and drivers in the context of WA's strengths and advantages to identify where the state’s significant opportunities lie. These opportunities are the foundation of the Strategy's 2042 vision, driving the state towards a more diversified economy and prosperous society over the long term.

The 6 strategic opportunities identified for WA are:

State Infrastructure Strategy
Progressively prepare, in order of priority, 20-year integrated regional plans
Prepare a city opportunity plan that sets an agreed strategic framework for the Perth CBD and immediate surrounds
Embed rigorous infrastructure appraisal in the planning decision-making framework
