Invest in fit for purpose and contemporary infrastructure

Recommendation

93. Improve facilities and increase capacity by investing in fit for purpose and contemporary major justice and public safety infrastructure, including:   

  1. replacing the Broome Regional Prison, subject to a business case
  2. replacing the WA Emergency Management Training Centre, subject to a business case
  3. further investigating the phased rollout of the Government Radio Network, subject to a finalised business case.
WA Government response

The WA Government responded to Foundation for a stronger tomorrow in February 2023. Recommendation 93 is fully supported. For further information please refer to the response document.

A preferred site has been identified. Various plans have been progressed such as an operational and service delivery plan and functional brief.

A primary site has been identified and the process to transfer management order is in progress. Preparation of a Project Definition Plan has commenced.

94.144 On schedule
Trance 1 of the Multi-agency Emergency Services Radio Network project is well advanced, with deployment of infrastructure and devices commenced across multiple sites. Planning for further investment in subsequent tranches has commenced.
