Infrastructure WA
IWA Update: March 2021
Read what the IWA team has been up to this month
From the CEO
It's been a demanding start to 2021 for IWA. Since our last update at the end of 2020 we released our Consultation Outcomes Report and were well underway in evaluating proposals received from our consultation program.
I'm pleased to share with you this process is approaching its closing stages, with a final tranche of assessment nearing completion. It's been a huge effort by our team to carry out this vital work and I'd like to thank them for their commitment, collaboration and teamwork. Once finalised, we will be in a position to complete preparation of the recommendations for WA's first draft State Infrastructure Strategy.
Developing the Strategy is a task we cannot do alone. We have been working closely with our peak industry partners and government agencies - calling on their expertise, advice and assistance during this period.
In January, we held an interactive session with peak industry groups to workshop various build and non-build infrastructure responses to our key strategic opportunities, our Strategy's vision and frame the future of our State.
More recently, our team ramped up our engagement program with key State Government agencies to test information we are formulating for the Strategy and listen to feedback.
On behalf of myself and the team I'd like to extend my thanks to these groups and agencies who have provided their valuable time and expertise.

Chief Executive Officer, Infrastructure WA
Peak industry provides valuable insight
To kick off 2021 we held our second External Stakeholder Reference Group meeting which brought together peak body leaders to discuss the development of the State Infrastructure Strategy and key opportunity areas for the State.
The session included an interactive workshop which saw leaders from a variety of industry sectors work together to identify future infrastructure opportunities.
Future technology and emerging industries focus for discussions
IWA is holding a series of individual meetings with senior executives from both local and multi-national corporations across various industries to workshop our Strategy's vision and frame the future of our State.
State agency briefing sets the scene for ongoing engagement
In February, our team facilitated another session with our State Agencies Working Group.
The session gave us the opportunity to provide insight to the group on our evaluation framework and criteria for how we would be assessing proposals received.
Discussions also circulated around how capacity and capability will be assessed as part of our assessment criteria.
IWA goes one-on-one with agencies
Following the State Agencies Working Group session, a series of ongoing one-on-one engagements were held over February and March with agency heads and senior leaders of the group called on for their specific knowledge and expertise on cross-sectoral, technical, policy and other non-build matters.
